Every other Tuesday is photography club evening and last night was a little different.

Usually we meet up at the club ‘house’ and talk about photography, about photos or about the gear. It's nerdy. As hell.

Last night the club put on a photography challenge where the city center was divided up into a grid. You roll the 🎲🎲 to see which location you get, and then again to determine your subject.

I discovered fixed focal lengths about 4-5 years ago, so last night I set myself the challenge. Fuji XT4, 27mm f2.8 fixed lens. Loaded an acros+red filter square recipe onto the camera. Black and white squares all the way, baby! ⬛

The picture here is from location 14, 10. Subject is 13. 13 being flowers. And 14, 10 being in the middle of a shopping mall.

However. Determined to make it work I set off! I got there just as all the shops were closing up. Luckily the one i wanted stayed open 2 minutes past closing time.

The result? 👇 slow shutter, flash set to rear/2nd curtain. Cherry blossoms (maybe fake…😂) photographed against a black ceiling. Straight outta camera jpeg.

What do you think? Worth the hassle?
