Seeing the light.

Many a photographer has said it before, but photography is nothing but understanding and seeing light.

Without light, no photography. ⬛

With bad/boring/wrong light, dull photos.

The truth is that that great light can transform anything into something beautiful.

Conversly, bad light will turn something remarkable into something not worth noticing.

When one understands this, photography really changes. You care less about the epic views and get excited by the most mundane things in great light.

I used to chase epic. Grand vistas. Great views. Impressive landscapes. Today I find a lot more joy in noticing the beauty in the seemingly mundane.

In this post, I've photographed a pillar in a hotel lobby, in gorgeous light. If you look closely at the photo with the glasses you can see the pillar on the right and how the light hit it.
